Pierce Brosnan Explores Yellowstone National Park

Pierce Brosnan, the well-known actor from James Bond, has officially declared his innocence regarding charges of illegal hiking in Yellowstone. He made this plea through a written submission on January 4 in the U.S. District Court for Wyoming. Additionally, he requested the cancellation of a court hearing scheduled for January 23, which would have required his physical presence.

Brosnan’s lawyer, Karl Knuchel, submitted the not-guilty plea on behalf of the actor. On Wednesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick approved Brosnan’s request to skip the initial appearance hearing and instead scheduled a virtual status conference for February 20. This conference is intended to prepare both parties for a potential trial.

The charges against Brosnan, issued by the U.S. Attorney for Wyoming on December 26, stem from two alleged incidents on November 1. One citation accuses the actor of walking in a thermal area, while the other alleges he entered the Mammoth Terraces, a collection of hot springs mineral tiers, during its closure to the public.

Yellowstone's thermal features are both fragile and hazardous. Disruptions to these areas can take years to naturally correct, and there have been tragic incidents where tourists lost their lives by accidentally falling into scalding pools.

In a disturbing event in 2022, a 70-year-old man from Los Angeles is believed to have used the West Thumb Geyser Basin to end his own life. Authorities discovered his foot in the pool that August. Another incident involved a 49-year-old Michigan man, reportedly intoxicated, who was banned from Yellowstone last year after deviating from a trail and sustaining burns. During the time of the alleged infractions, Brosnan was in the area filming "The Unholy Trinity," a Western where he plays the role of a sheriff. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, as per information from imdb.com.
